Berry Lonely II
A 5" X 7" watercolor. This one is called Berry Lonely II - a variation of Berry Lonely I that is sold. It is shown here  double matted in white with a black inner mat that really sets the stage for this lonely lady. It will fit your standard 8" X10" frame. Mat comes with the painting.

The Independent Trio

The Independent Trio

SOLD

I love cherries with their bright lustrous colors! I also love painting lace..So, painting cherries on linen lace is a real pleasure! I even had a lot of fun setting up this still life in my studio...I have to admit that I had more cherries than this when I started taking the pictures:-) Those cherries were delicious!

This original watercolor painting is on Arches Cold Press watercolor paper and is painted with professional quality paints. I have matted it with an Artic white mat with an inner border in black....this really brings out the color of the plate and accentuates the contrast with the red cherries. The mat will fit an 11" X 14" frame. The actual dimensions of the painting are just over 8" X 10".

Here is a view of the painting with the matting.

The Silent Venetian - A Mascarone

This is an original watercolor from my own reference photo of a Venetian mascarone ( a carved, stone head on the keystone of an archway). This noble Venetian   watching the entrance of this palazzo for about five hundred years!  It is part of my Memories of Venice series and is a great companion piece to my other mascarone painting, The Gate Keeper. After painting these stone faces, I somehow feel very close to them. They seem to watch over me:-)

SOLD
This painting was created on Arches 140lb Cold Press paper with professional grade paints. It is matted to 14" high by 18" wide for a 20" x 24" frame.

The Gate Keeper

The Gate Keeper

Please email me for price.

This is an original watercolor from my own reference photo of a Venetian mascarone ( a carved, stone head on the keystone of an archway). This old, stately guy has been watching the entrance of this palazzo for about five hundred yearif you have any questions. s! I took the reference photo from underneath and at an angle from the mascarone, creating an unusual perspective. It is part of my Memories of Venice series. I really enjoyed every moment of working on this painting. I have to admit that it is one of my favorite paintings and I feel very happy about the results.

This painting is on Canson artboard with 140 lb Arches CP paper. It is 16" X 20" and painted with professional quality W&N paints. It is offered on line unframed and unmatted. It would look very nice with a 20" X24" matting and a simple metal frame with glass.

Venetian Shutters - Original Watercolor

Original watercolor painting
140lb Arches watercolor paper

Approx. 15" X19" matted in white to 20" X 24"
Please email me for price.

This painting is part of my “Memories of Venice” series and it was inspired by my own photo reference from a recent trip to Venice. The shadows produced by the shutters and the hanging flowers were such a pleasure to paint in gorgeous colors! The painting was started with the "poured" watercolor technique in order to achieve glowing pastel colors.

Golden Arch- An original watercolor painting of bronze/gold/copper orchids

Please email me for price

An original watercolor on Fabriano Soft Press watercolor paper.
11"X 14" double-matted in off white to 16" X 20"
Sold online matted and with backing ( both acid-free), but unframed.

This painting received an Honorable Mention ribbon  at the Annual Ottawa Orchid  Show April 23-24 2011 where 170 works of art were on display.

.This was a double or even triple challenge for me: for my first orchid painting, I chose a most complex reference photo  with several orchids, various stems and leaves ; I also painted with a palette of colors that I rarely use ( and don't really like usually) - yellows, golds, bronze; finally, although I love flowers, I am not a great fan of orchids in general, since I find some almost frightening:-)
Considering all the personal challenges posed by this painting, I am very pleased that I got it finished  and that it looks pretty good:-) The rich colors was really what attracted me to the reference photo as well as the beautiful red against the white in the lower right corner flower...Nature is really the best colorist!

This painting was featured on the Australian site Red Bubble 24 hrs after it was posted there:
It later received a second feature in the Painters' Universe group:
It is always very nice to receive an acknowledgement from fellow artists. Thank your Red Bubble!

Venetian Guardian - Original Watercolor in "Memories of Venice" series

Venetian Guardian

Medium: Watercolor
Size: 13" X 19" matted to 20" X24"
Sold Matted - Unframed
Email me for price and availability
Here is another door in my "Memory of Venice" series. It is called "Venetian Guardian" for the carved head that seems to guard the entrance to this Venetian home. … a four-century old guardian. The crumbling brickwork, the intricate ironwork on and above the door, all of this is typical of the fading beauty that is so unique to Venice. This original painting is inspired from my own photo taken on a rather overcast day...I invented the light and the warmth this time:-)

It is painted on Arches 140 lb CP with mostly W&N and Da Vinci paints.
What I like the most about this painting is the top half of the walls where I used the pouring technique: I was happy about the warmth around the carved head and the contrast with the other, cooler parts of the wall.

This painting received 3 features on the Australian site Red Bubble in Feb. 2011:
1.in the Time Gates group:

2. in the 100-499 viewings group:
3. in the Painters Universe group

Garden Kaleidoscope -Original Watercolor

This watercolor painting of a complex clematis reminds me of a kaleidoscope or a sunburst!
It was a real puzzle to paint...what is a petal, what is a shadow? However, I am very, very happy with the result. This is probably one of my favorite paintings!

This is  an 8" X 11" original watercolor on Arches CP watercolor paper.
It is sold double- matted in white to fit an 12" X  15" frame with glass.
SOLD

It is shown below temporarily framed with its double-matting ( included) and in a gold metal frame (not included) to give you an idea of how it will look on your wall. The glare is caused by the flash of my camera. All photos were taken inside and effort was made for best matching of colors, but results can vary on different monitors.
